I am Pastor James A. Smith, Sr. Pastor of Maranatha Gospel Church of Romulus Michigan. I’m glad you’re visiting our Web site today and I would like to share a few things with you about the ministry and myself. Please know that this is not an "ad" to convince you to come to Maranatha. I know this church is not for everyone, but it is for some.
We are a real family and are committed to restoration of the family. What I mean is, our ministry commitment is to PEOPLE FIRST. We love people and are blessed to minister God’s truth to them and be a part of making their lives better – spiritually, mentally, emotionally, and naturally. Our focus is not a big building, a large membership, or securing as much money as we can. Our focus is lost souls.
Most of our membership is comprised of people who have been wounded and disenchanted with church. They got so fed up, that they just went home and sat down. They were tired of the hypocritical "spiritual" leadership that left their first love, which is JESUS CHRIST. I am not a perfect leader, but I am a submitted leader who realizes that God didn’t have to choose me and I can only Pastor successfully with HIS leading.
I am blessed to have my wife, Evangelist Cathy R. Smith. She is a true woman of God who is uniquely anointed to minister to the needs of women. I realize I don't possess all gifts and abilities needed to minister to all people, but I am blessed to have a team of ministers with varying talents and abilities who first love God, then people.
